IOWA DIY 2010

Speaker building at it's very best

Welcome to the official 2010 website. This event has been going on for quite a few years now and has evolved into the great event that it is today. However it can only be as good as the people that attend so come on out to Iowa and see what great homebuilt speakers sound like and see why we love the DIY hobby so much.

The Date this year has been set for October 16 in Grinnell Iowa, once again at the Harris Center on the campus of Grinnell College. The doors will open at 8 AM and the music will start at 9 AM sharp. We will run till about 6 PM.

I can be reached at              dpeterson     AAATTT   mchsi   dot      CoM        of course you need to remove the junk to use the address and please put Iowa DIY in the subject line or your email will most likely get filtered.

2010 rules: There aren't any this year. Just sign up and bring your speakers. You have to sign up to get a spot. I will need the name and cost of your speaker before spot is reserved.

Don't forget to bring some music, ten minutes of your best stuff. Please have it on one disk. It really is a pain to swap out disks.

Sponsors: There aren't any. I've been too busy to chase them down and the drawing always takes an hour so it's gone too.

The speakers will run from the most expensive to the least expensive. The cost is based on the current retail cost of drivers and crossovers only!

There will be evaluations sheets available but there is no contest this year. So if you want feedback make sure you let everyone know so they can fill out the forms.

That's it plain and simple this year, much more of a show and tell. No contest to be found. The upside is there will be time for more speakers.

I will be having a reception at my house again on the Friday evening before the event. I will post a map to my house as the date gets closer. (5pm-10ish or when everyone leaves.)

Change of plans. Due to work I will not be hosting a reception at my house on Friday night. I would like to meet at Lonski's Deli. They have a bar, good food, and a pool table. With Iowa's new smoking law it doesn't reek of smoke so it should be good for most everyone. They moved location a few months ago. If you look at the map of Grinnell they are just north of the corner of 4th and Main.

I know it's sounds like I am slacking this year and I am a bit but mostly it's because I have been uber busy and it's not going to let up anytime soon so it is what it is. If you really need or want to talk to me send me an e-mail with your number and the best time to reach you and I will call you back.
